Loyal to the “Timeless Desire” concept and philosophy, the hallmark of the Leoncino range since day one, here’s our new Benelli Leoncino 800. A true change for the Pesaro-based manufacturer, with an essential and authentic two-wheeler that stands out for a well-balanced mix of classic and modern styles, which match perfectly with the most advanced engine of the whole range with a displacement of 754 cc. Leoncino 800 is more muscular than its smaller sisters, with tougher, carved-out shapes that bring out its power and dynamism, with a compact yet slender silhouette that stands out for its extremely well-balanced proportions. Given the sheer elegance of its lines and the modern style, Leoncino 800 expresses its essence and uniqueness while retaining every hallmark of the Leoncino range. As a matter of fact, the 800cc version also features the iconic arc, which appears on the entire range and, in this model, on both the headlight and the fuel tank. The above elements and details, though more evolved than in the 250cc and 500cc versions, at the same time convey an unmistakeable sense of communality with the Leoncino iconography, thus retaining a sort of family feeling.
The beating heart of Leoncino 800 is the 754cc, liquid cooled, four-stroke, twincylinder engine; dependable and reactive, it delivers well on the throttle with a power of 81.6 HP (60 kW) at 9000 rpm and a torque of 67 Nm (6.8 kgm) at 6500 rpm. Finally, the double overhead camshaft timing with 4 valves per cylinder, as well as the double throttle body of 43 mm diameter, wet anti-slip clutch and 6speed gearbox, complete the picture for a safe and state-of-the-art enginetransmission assembly.
The frame is a brand new tubular trellis with steel plates, which matches perfectly with the design while ensuring easy and nimble handling on the road regardless of the rider’s skills, without any prejudice to an absolutely fun experience. The care for details and genuine materials are the hallmarks of Leoncino 800. The angled and modern-looking tank is made of steel and sports the Benelli logo, as tradition commands. The Leoncino logo appears under the seat on a sleek aluminium side panel, which flows dynamically from the tank creating a simple, yet sophisticated style element. The headlight, which shares its modern lines with Leoncino 250, is full LED with an authentic and sophisticated design, brought out by the arc and Benelli Leoncino logo at the centre. This version features latest-technology TFT instruments on a dashboard that stands out for its modern and authentic design. The seat ensures the utmost comfort for the rider and the passenger alike; moreover, it perfectly matches the overall lines of the bike, much like the modern and balanced exhaust design. The Lion has a special place standing proudly of the front mudguard, like on our historic motorcycles and the rest of the Leoncino range. Moreover, Leoncino 800 features a standard central stand.
The suspensions consist in a front upside-down Marzocchi fork with 50 mm diameter legs, adjustable in rebound, compression and preload, a guarantee of comfort, stability and effectiveness throughout the entire 130 mm travel of the front suspension. On the back there is a swinging arm with central adjustable monoshock in the spring preload and rebound damping. The Brembo braking system is exceptionally safe thanks to the double 320 mm diameter semi-floating disc on the front and four-piston radial-mount mono-block calliper, and a 260 mm diameter disc on the back with a double-piston calliper. The 17” aluminium alloy tubeless spoked rims mount 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 tyres. The tank has a remarkable 15-l capacity and brings out the muscular nature of this bike.
Leoncino 800 will be available at all Benelli dealers starting from mid 2020.
